Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Nagpur in KPMG list for offshoring

Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Nagpur are among the 31 emerging cities globally for the IT (information technology)/ BPO (business process outsourcing) industry identified by KPMG, a global network of professional services firms.

In its report of “Exploring global frontiers-the new emerging destinations,” KPMG said these 31 emerging cities were lesser known alternatives to the more established or recognised cities for IT/BPO operations in EMA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), ASPAC (Asia, India, Japan and Australia) and America (south and north America) regions.

Most of the 10 emerging cities in the ASPAC region, the report said, were Tier-II or Tier-III cities in the “veteran supplier countries of India, China, Malaysia and the Philippines”.

Besides the three aforesaid Indian cities, the report identified seven others in the ASPAC region. They are: Brisbane (Australia); Changsha and Hangzhou (China); Penang (Malaysia); Davao City and Illoilo City (the Philippines); and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). The 10 emerging cities in the ASPAC region, the report said, offered lower costs, good talent pool with lower attrition and better quality of life than the Tier-I cities.
