Infosys against job cuts, will reduce pay if needed

The outlook for the IT industry seems to be worsening. NR Narayana Murthy, Chief Mentor at Infosys said the company may resort to salary cuts and would honour the job offer they have made. However, he added that no descion on salary cut had been taken as yet. “If necessary, I think certainly Infosys will do. Infosys will do in such a manner that leaders will lead by example and younger people can adopt it.”
Speaking on the company’s cost structure, Murthy said on the revenue side we are working on providing on creating models for communicating business value to the customers in everything that we do. “At the end pf the day, customers have to see business value. Secondly, we are moving from the era of price for performance to performance for price. Third, we are trying to move from fixed cost to variable cost and are trying to move from the era of indirect cost to direct cost. So, that everything becomes part of the project.”

Murthy said that he was chairing the ethics committee to put together guidlines would act as an advisory. urthy added that he has no great expectations form the interim Budget.
