Ex-Wiproite takes bosses to court

An ex-Wipro employee has reportedly filed a court case against nine of his former seniors who he says forced him to resign after making him go through hell at work

According to a news report in Mid Day, Hyderabad-based G Ram Mohan has filed a private complaint in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bangalore Rural, against nine Wipro officials because he says the police did not look into his grievances when he approached them.

In the complaint, Mohan told the court that he was an employee of Wipro Technologies, Electronics City, from December 3, 2007, till his services were terminated on March 10.

Mohan has alleged that his bosses made him run personal errands and humiliated him. In his complaint, the software professional has claimed that when he opposed this, they threatened him and sought his resignation. The nine Wipro employees named in the complaint are Keshav Kumar, Sreeranganathan, Ankur Chadha, Anuradha Raju, Ganesh Halapethi, Supriya Mahajan, Vikram Mirani, Sulekha Jagadish and Shalini Macaden.

Mohan told the news daily that he had nine years of experience in software testing when he joined Wipro in 2007.

According to the report, spokesperson of Wipro, when contacted, sought more time to reply to queries about the complaint filed in the court.

  2. This is a likely menace in the IT sector in India because our laws are not stringent. Someone, please create a channel so that more such cases can be addressed directly. Or, please contact the press for help. There are definitely more cases like this. There was one from Nokia two years back.
Also there are signs from certain IT professionals that the selection process of engineers and management people is biased. eg : when a highly experienced engineer drops in for an interview, the interviewer checks if he is interviewing his future competitor, and if yes simply rejects the resume giving strange reasons. MAY BE ALL THESE CAN HAPPEN ONLY IN INDIA and people have to come together to open up a channel where such problems can be addressed and fixed. Even past cases need to be welcomed.

  3. Taking to Court in INDIA is of no use; this is again employee taking hell at home and work.

IT Consulting companies are well established so there is no solution to this problem. Only option left for an employee is to find good place for his career; probably not an IT career again.

  4. All these big IT companies are hopeless. They believe everybody is replaceable and treats anybody like this. This is very common in all the IT companies-they only look good from outside. Moreover in countries like India where there are so many loopholes and less awareness of laws and justice taking so much time-situation grims further. In US-at least you have DOL or other government organization which looks into the matters of Equal opportunity employment etc...

  5. Wipro talks about ethics, rules, policies to employees but they wont follow them. They will send employees to US on business visa to work...which is not supposed to do.

There are many things if we tell about...it is an endless story......

  6. It is not only WIPRO. Company like TATA INFOTECH and HCL Technologies ( 35A (SP) Developed Plot Estate ), Guindy , Chennai -32 it is very common.

You need to l..k the BOSS A.. to survive or to grow.

Every software engineer should be given guidelines on how to handle this when they join the comapany.

Or the software companies should not ask for service certificates when the candidate join. Because these companies basically threaten the employees that they wont give service certificate if you don't tender resignation in general.

  7. Guess wat the management focus is always cheating the client in the name of billing, but then they torture employees in all the means telling that people are not upto the mark.

In a company, one particular PM is damn friendly that, if u need onsite, jus give him money or buy some gifts while coming back.

  8. As an anonymous guy said, Talking to court in India is merely a waist specially, when you are dealing with a company like Wipro, not that it is an IT Giant, but , its the worst company currently thats enjoying the highest profits and credits, specially by the way it treats its employees. Use the employees as much as possible, then throw them out.

Also, it showcases that it has the HR policies that are the best in the Industry, whst about the policies they follow with the client, mainly when it comes to billing? So, they can cheat and fraud the clients, but, employees are screwed. There is a high work pressure and its one of the worst environments a company can have (may be thats the reason why its SIX SIGMA). But, Mr. Ram mohan, you have done one of the best things an individual can do...good and keep it up. You really need accolades for what you have done, else, such things will keep on happening again and again. All we can do is lets hope, atleast some action is taken against such fradulent senior employees of WIPRO as well on the Company also.
