Institutes help firms get job-ready staff

Many companies such as ICICI Bank, Metlife and HDFC Standard Life are turning to educational, training institutes to help with talent management and provide manpower solutions.

The BFSI sector seems to have taken the lead in this regard, so ICICI Bank has tied up with Career Launcher, MetLife India Insurance with Delhi University (DU) and HDFC Standard Life with Manipal Education. NIS Sparta, a training outfit, has collab-orated projects with Coca Cola, Citibank, American Express, Bajaj Auto, Relia-nce and ITC Wills Lifestyle.

“The training of raw talent to make them industry-ready will slowly become a trend in the coming 3-5 years,” said Amit Pratap, head, certi-ficate in banking opera-tions programme, Career Launcher Skill School.

Stating that the training course for ICICI Bank will start in July with 30 students in Rajkot and Raipur, Pratap said, “Companies always have bulk requirement in most cases. The difficulty they generally face is the gap between their requirement and the quality of talent available. What we aim to do is bridge this gap by providing the companies industry-trained quality manpower as well as help the students focus on the particular necessities of the company.”

Agreed Manoj Chawla, senior VP of NIS Sparta, who said that organisations are slowly showing willin-gness to invest in developing a supply chain of job-ready, role-ready aspirants.

Said Rajesh Relan, managing director of MetLife India Insurance: “Our course is designed to accommodate 30 students per batch. On successful completion of their course, the students are awarded with a joint University of Delhi-MetLife certificate,’’ he said.

“Such tie-ups broaden the horizons of students. They get a holistic view of the industry,” Relan added.
