Infosys: Pay hikes to go single digit

The Chief Financial Officer of Infosys, SD Shibu Lal, today said pricing pressure was expected to continue for a little while unless the environment changed. Alluding to the macro economic environment, he said "once the environment stabilises, with a lag of two quarters, pricing and demand environment will also stabilise".

In April the employees typically are given increment. In 2008-09 offshore employees received a pay hike of 14 to 15 per cent while its onsite employees received four to five per cent hike. "This year, it will be lower, maybe single digit", he said. The IT major also confirmed it was actively pursuing acquistions, but did not elaborate.
